Little North

With their forthcoming album Crossing Currents on the highly regarded German label ACT Music, Danish trio Little North take another step on their musical journey.

Since 2020, they have released six albums and established themselves as a distinctive voice on the European jazz scene.

Little North work as a collective, with all members composing and drawing inspiration from a wide range of genres and traditions. Their curiosity, both collective and individual, drives the music forward, and each album explores new musical landscapes.

Crossing Currents was created in New York in collaboration with vibraphonist Joel Ross and saxophonist Hannes Bennich. Here, Little North’s Nordic sound and poetic precision meet the energy of the international jazz scene, creating an open, contemporary sound in which musical currents from Copenhagen, New York and Malmö flow together.

Live, the music takes on another dimension through the interplay with Dutch guitarist Reinier Baas, one of Europe’s most original guitarists, known for his rhythmic drive and melodic inventiveness. Together with Bennich, they shape and reshape the material in the moment, taking it in new directions from one concert to the next.

For the audience, this means a concert experience that cannot be heard on record. The music is created in the moment, through the interaction between the musicians, the room and the audience – building bridges between the Nordic and international jazz scenes.
