Myles Sanko – Live at Nefertiti Thursday 22 October

The last time Myles Sanko visited Nefertiti, the show was completely sold out. Now the charismatic British soul and jazz singer is back in Gothenburg for another evening filled with warmth, groove and stories from the heart.

Born in Accra, Ghana, and raised in Cambridge, Myles Sanko carries a rich cultural heritage that comes through clearly in his music. His sound moves naturally between soul, jazz and modern groove, pairing powerful vocals with heartfelt lyrics about love, hope and the times we live in.

His journey began in the clubs and on the streets of Cambridge, where he rapped and sang with local DJs and performed as a busker. In 2013, he took matters into his own hands and released his debut album Born In Black & White on his own label. The record quickly attracted international attention and was followed by acclaimed albums such as Forever Dreaming, Just Being Me and Memories Of Love, as well as the live recording Live at Philharmonie Luxembourg.

Over the years, Myles Sanko has collaborated with names such as Gregory Porter, Martha High, China Moses and Ben l’Oncle Soul, establishing himself as one of Europe’s most highly regarded voices in modern soul and jazz.

He is currently touring with his latest album Let It Unfold, which puts his signature style – warm soul, sophisticated jazz arrangements and compelling storytelling – centre stage.

MOJO Magazine describes him as having “a distinctive style that blends impassioned soul sermonising with cool jazz sophistication”, while Rolling Stone calls him “one of the great talents of vibrant European soul.”
