Although the five members of British band Ulrika Spacek come from different backgrounds and perspectives, they form a tightly interwoven artistic unit as a band. The group is now geographically dispersed, with multi-instrumentalist and singer Rhys Edwards based in Stockholm, while Syd Kemp runs Total Refreshment Studio (Thurston Moore, Spiritulized, Kikagaku Moyo) in east London. Despite their widely differing backgrounds beyond performing music (experimental physics, graphic design, music production, etc.), it is their collective musical vision that brings them together in a dreamlike world of off-kilter melodies, scuffed guitars and floating atmospheres.

Rooted in challenging art rock, neo-psychedelia and experimental indie rock, the group's latest album, the already critically acclaimed 'EXPO', takes its starting point in the borderland between analogue warmth and humanity and electronic coldness and isolation. As boldly inviting as it is deeply alienating, it is in many ways much like the world around us today.
