Perhaps in vain, perhaps not. Hannes Aitman is one of those songwriters still searching for something genuine in an age awash with snap decisions, status worship and greed. Aitman’s artistry takes shape in music, paintings and as-yet-unpublished literary works. His dark, smooth, yet sometimes slightly gruff voice, paired with richly resonant melodies, drapes the places Aitman and his band visit in a blanket of artistic expression. His reflective lyrics range from forgiveness and social criticism to subjects that touch everyone’s inner life at some point, but which the rest of us often struggle to express. With the album “By The Morning”, recorded live at the historic “Soundtrade Studios”, Hannes Aitman and his band “The Pink House Union” bring to life something that has long been absent from the music world: integrity, something genuine, something live, something dreamlike.
