Arvid Jullander Trio
Arvid Jullander Trio feat. Alexander Lövmark - Asian homecoming party! After more than a month touring Asia, the quartet are back on the west coast.
The band recount their jazz crusade, which took them through dusty Bangalore, bustling Tokyo and finally all the way to the remote Japanese island of Hokkaido. All to spread the message of jazz!
Some forty concerts later, the quartet are incredibly tight and now take to the stage to share their experiences from the Far East. The band's usual repertoire of jazz standards and well-known pop hits given a jazz treatment now sits alongside brand-new music composed beneath blossoming cherry trees in the suburbs of Osaka. All burnished by hundreds of hours on bumpy Indian roads and to the sound of relatively recently tuned Yamaha grand pianos in decadent Japanese jazz clubs.
Back home, Arvid Jullander Trio have been much talked about ever since their 2025 debut album Banne mig! on the award-winning HOOB Records (Label of the Year – Manifestgalan 2025).
Arvid Jullander is the bassist everyone is talking about. With his lyrical, virtuoso playing, he has been an established presence on the Scandinavian jazz scene for over a decade and has received numerous prestigious awards, not least the 2018 Monica Zetterlund scholarship.
The trio also features the extraordinary drummer Adam Ross, whose thoroughly musical playing has left a lasting impression on the ears of music connoisseurs in Sweden and around the world.
On piano, you will hear Leo Lindberg, the phenomenon from the capital, who has been a consummate professional since the age of 13. He has played with most of the biggest names. Here we will hear his magical touch on the (hopefully freshly tuned?) grand piano as well as the Hammond organ.
The evening's guest artist is vocal magician Alexander Lövmark. He needs no introduction to jazz-loving Gothenburg residents, but it is still worth mentioning that he has a handful of records to his name as a frontman and has won several prestigious awards, including 1st Prize Montreux Jazz Vocal Competition 2017 – yes, that Montreux.
“Superb and unpretentious.”
– P-O Larsson, Gyllene skivan / OrkesterJournalen
“Genuinely cool, with a relaxed attitude and well-earned authority.”
– Lira Musikmagasin
“Alexander Lövmark is an exceptionally good male jazz vocalist.”
– Bo Bjelvehammar, Opulens
