Jonas Lundqvist is a Swedish artist and songwriter who first became known as a member of Bad Cash Quartet, where he was active from the early 1990s until 2004. Since the band split up, he has continued his career as a solo artist, releasing several Swedish-language albums, as well as an English-language album under the name Jonas Game.
Lundqvist's music is characterised by its introspective and emotional nature, often exploring themes of loss, grief and personal reflection. The album Sorgetornets spejare is a clear example of this. With songs such as “Järtecken” and “En liten pojke”, he not only offers musical favourites that have received extensive radio airplay, but also uses music to reveal his own inner journey through life's difficulties. The album is characterised by a highly compressed and concentrated soundscape, in which Lundqvist experiments with both new and familiar sounds. Songs such as “Förvirrad varg” and “Liljekonvalj” demonstrate his desire to continually reinvent his style and create something authentic and powerful.
Lundqvist has always followed his own path, both as an artist and as a person, and describes his artistic practice as something impulsive – an expression of his inner drive and his need to process what he is going through.
Following an extensive tour with several sold-out shows in autumn 2024, Jonas returned to the live stage in 2025 with much-discussed concerts at Mosebacketerrassen in Stockholm and Gothenburg Film Studios in Gothenburg. That same year, he also featured in the documentary Ner till min far, which offered an intimate insight into his personal life and artistic practice. In the film, he explores themes of grief, loss and what it is like to be a parent while mourning your own parents.
On 12 June, Jonas Lundqvist releases the single “Glaciär”, the first taste of the forthcoming album Dog för några år sen, which is released on 23 October. The album is followed by a tour with shows in Uppsala, Malmö, Gothenburg and Stockholm, marking the next chapter in an artistic career that has consistently followed its own path for more than three decades.
