Lars Bygdén on I'm Kingfisher:
"Anyone who hasn't seen I'm Kingfisher alone on stage has really missed out. I had too, until a couple of weeks ago when we played at the same festival. As a guitarist and songwriter, I was completely floored by his utterly distinctive playing style and songs. A true one-off! What's more, he's a wonderful person off stage too."
I'm Kingfisher on Lars Bygdén:
"Lars and I both played at a festival in a flat in Stockholm many years ago. Since then, our careers have existed in something like parallel realities. This summer we played together again, and for me it really was love at first – or rather, second – sight. Love the music, love the person. I wish we were an inseparable duo who always toured together."
LB [Lars Bygdén]
Lars Bygdén has been an influential force in Swedish Americana since the 1990s, initially as the frontman of The Thousand Dollar Playboys, who helped introduce alt-country to the Swedish indie scene. Since the band split in 2003, he has continued as a solo artist, releasing six albums, touring extensively in Sweden and Europe and receiving accolades including Manifestpriset.
Over the years, his music has evolved far beyond traditional Americana. Swedish folk music, folk rock, dark 1970s sounds and electronic textures are woven together into an expression that is entirely his own, always with deeply personal songwriting at its heart.
The new album War is LB's first in five years and his most political to date. Here, the acoustic meets the electronic, the delicate meets the bombastic, in songs that move between social unease, love, confrontation, resignation and hope. The album has received excellent reviews, and Lars has toured Sweden extensively during the summer and autumn of 2026. The summer was crowned by his appearances as a surprise guest at Weeping Willows' rapturously received concerts at Mosebacke in Stockholm.
On stage, Lars Bygdén is both intense and disarming. Dark, powerful songs are interspersed with humour, self-deprecation and warm between-song banter. The result is a concert that can be stirring, beautiful and very funny.
"Stands comparison with some of the most important American singer-songwriters you can think of." - Rating: 5/6 Fokus Musik
"The music and lyrics are equally good and rewarding."

I'M KINGFISHER (THOMAS JONSSON)
With a confluence of warm Americana, Nordic melancholy and desolate echoes, indie/folk artist I'm Kingfisher (Thomas Jonsson) continues to be onto something. This year, he is in the spotlight on two fronts: with his newly released and acclaimed album Give Up Together, and with a cameo and music in the feature film Biodlaren. The film opened Göteborgs filmfestival this year. Despite a somewhat obscure reputation, his distinctively dreamy voice and idiosyncratic guitar technique are regularly written about by major music media outlets. NPR, KEXP, Uncut, Radio France, Aftonbladet and The Times are just a few of those who have featured him over the years.
In 2021, he won a Manifestpris in the singer/songwriter category, and the following year he wrote the song The Pain of Happiness especially for the feature film Comedy Queen. After many years of touring, he has honed a sophisticated balance between the catchy and the obscure. In a review of one of his summer concerts, Helsingborgs Dagblad described him as a virtuoso and wrote that the reverb drips down the walls.
