Cola + Ängel
Oceanen presents: Cola Canadian band Cola (featuring members of Ought) come to Sweden for the first time this autumn, with a new album out on 8 May via Fire Talk.
On 8 May, Montreal trio Cola return with their third album, Cost of Living Adjustment, and today sees the release of the second single, "Conflagration Mindset". The single follows "Hedgesitting", which earned praise from Stereogum, NME and BrooklynVegan, among others. The band, which rose from the ashes of the acclaimed Ought, will come to Sweden for the first time this autumn, visiting Stockholm, Gothenburg and Malmö in November.
Cola are Tim Darcy (vocals/guitar), Ben Stidworthy (bass) and Evan Cartwright (drums). Since releasing their debut single “Blank Curtain” in 2021, they have released two full-length albums: their 2022 debut Deep In View and its 2024 follow-up The Gloss.
On 8 May, the band release their third album, Cost of Living Adjustment, their take on a self-titled album (C.O.L.A.), through much-hyped New York label Fire Talk Records. C.O.L.A. is both a beautiful and complex album, a partly abstract record on which the band's post-punk-rooted sound, with razor-sharp guitars and Darcy's lyrics, reaches greater heights than ever before, while melodies remain firmly in focus.
With their strongest collection of songs to date, Cola are a band who have both found themselves and are approaching a breakthrough. The music press have long since joined the chorus of praise, and this autumn they finally come to Sweden for the first time for three intimate gigs.

Praise for "Hedgesitting" “Cola seems poised for a breakout.” — CBC “bringing together elements of jangle-pop, brit-pop, post-punk” — The Needle Drop, Best Tracks of the Week “The lyrics are as abstract as ever, but the movie is joyously, directly hooky.” — Stereogum
Ängel
Ängel are a rave-influenced rock duo who perform in drag. Based in Gothenburg, the duo move between rock, post-punk and electronic dance music. Ängel draw inspiration from bands and artists such as DAF, Peaches and Gina X. Their music combines the drama of rock with the danceability of electronic music, creating a cathartic experience.
Nico Teen and Samme Fatale knew each other long before they started making music together. They realised that combining drag and rock music could give them the opportunity to create something new while also connecting with traditions such as glam rock. In autumn 2022, they began shaping their own queer rock’n’roll renaissance.
Previous performances include the closing event of Göteborg Film Festival, West Pride, BB-turnén, Waves Vienna and Viva Sounds. Ängel have so far released two singles with accompanying music videos, as well as a four-track EP. More singles are on the way, alongside work on the duo's first full-length album.
