Embla and the Karidotters create modern, queer outlaw country, inspired by everyone from Willie Nelson to Shania Twain. With humour, a joy of performing and a generous dose of twang, they are ready to turn the country music industry upside down in 2026 with their forthcoming third album.

Embla and the Karidotters is the band project of Razika drummer Embla Karidotter. After Razika went on hiatus, Embla assembled her “Karidotters” from fellow bands such as Slomosa, Honningbarna, Sløtface and Aiming for Enrike. In autumn 2022, they released their debut album Hello, I’m Embla, which won Spellemannprisen (the Norwegian equivalent of the Grammis Awards) for best country album. The follow-up, Off Leash, was released in 2024 and earned another Spellemann nomination, while E&TK began attracting attention outside Norway. Over the past two years, the band have toured almost non-stop in Norway, while also playing international festivals such as SXSW (USA), Stagecoach (USA), Cold Country (Denmark), SPOT (Denmark), Live At Heart (Sweden), Viva Sounds (Sweden) and Static Roots (Germany).

The band love delivering high-quality live performances that get audiences dancing, laughing and crying. The music is heartfelt, and you get to know Embla’s dark humour both during and between songs. They always end their concerts by line-dancing off the stage. Perhaps they will even invite you for a dance afterwards?
