ViVii
Oceanen presents: ViVii ViVii have long been one of Sweden’s best-kept musical secrets. A band who have operated just outside the brightest spotlight, yet built a much larger audience over several years, far beyond Sweden’s borders.
With millions of streams around the world, acclaim from the international music press and support slots for the likes of Alt-J, Caroline Jonsson, Emil Jonsson and Anders Eckeborn have created a distinctive sound that has resonated both in Sweden and far beyond its borders. Now it’s time for ViVii to return to Swedish and Norwegian stages on an upcoming spring tour, coinciding with the release of their third album.
ViVii made their debut in 2018 and quickly gained a foothold on the international scene. Influential outlets such as BBC6, Line of Best Fit and Wonderland showered the band with praise, while tours with the likes of Alt-J further increased interest. Their debut album soon passed 25 million streams – as good a testament as any to the band’s impact beyond Sweden. ViVii’s dreamlike pop has been mentioned in the same breath as that of Lana Del Rey, Sufjan Stevens and Beach House, while the music is just as firmly rooted in a down-to-earth Swedish context.
ViVii’s forthcoming third album, “I thought I would be somewhere else by now”, will be released via Dumont Dumont on 29 January 2027. The new album contains every emotional state at once. The enthusiasm of making music again meets the inspiration that comes from doing so in a new way. The dark themes and desperation that shine through time and again ultimately give way to a faintly hopeful nod to the future. Across the album’s eleven tracks, the listener moves through an arc – from dense darkness to the delicate light of morning. Musically, we recognise what millions of listeners have come to love ViVii for – the dreamlike soundscapes, soft harmonies and vivid imagery – while also hearing a band that has reinvented itself and come out the other side better than ever.________
