Sunnan is Cinema, Spaghetti Soul. The manifestation of a new genre taking shape — rooted in classic cinematic aesthetics and sweeping soundscapes in the spirit of Ennio Morricone. Neo-nostalgia.

Sunnan came together and formed through three coinciding events: a pandemic that created a space in time; the view from a gigantic panoramic window in a barn in Sunnanhed, which gave the members an inescapable cinematic perspective; and finally, a chance encounter in the next room with a legend from Stockholm’s 90s rave scene, sharing unorthodox instruments and eccentric philosophies, which sparked the band’s creative process. The members, all well-known musicians in Sweden’s music scene, would never have found one another or their sound if not for these factors. The idea for the sound came subconsciously, a shared longing for songs that embody the feeling of watching an old film such as “Paris, Texas”.

The critically acclaimed debut album Cinema was released in 2024 and made an immediate impact, earning two Grammis nominations and a win for Music Video of the Year. The single “Wild Horses” was named P3’s hit of the week, and the band’s first headline show sold out in just a few days. In 2026, Sunnan has continued to establish itself as one of Sweden’s most talked-about new acts. Their EP Cinema Sound System was also nominated for a Grammis and a P3 Guld award, and put them on the international map with several plays on European and American radio. With a fully booked summer tour and their second album ahead of them, another exciting year awaits Sunnan.

This is the beginning of a cinematic journey.
