Full speed ahead – Hoffmaestro release the single "Borderline" and take their new music on tour
After more than two decades as one of Sweden's biggest live bands, Hoffmaestro are keeping up the pace. Early next year will bring the cult band's first album entirely in Swedish, several single releases and an extensive tour. The 80s-inspired track "Borderline", the latest taste of the album, is released on 4 September, alongside the announcement of the upcoming tour.
With over 200 million streams and songs such as ”Highway Man”, ”Seize the Day”, ”The Storm”, ”Degen ska in” and ”Bacchanal (vem bryr sig om 200 år!?)”, Hoffmaestro remain one of the most firmly established names on the Swedish music scene. The latest offering is called "Borderline", an 80s-inspired pop song with a distinct touch of yacht rock. The lyrics depict a destructive yet addictive attraction, where sexual desire overcomes reason.
Borderline features a driving guitar and bass riff, backed by a steady, danceable drum and percussion beat. This is combined with shimmering synths and atmospheric vocal harmonies in the hook, and lyrics about venturing onto an emotional tightrope, Hoffmaestro explain.
Releasing music in Swedish is a natural step for Hoffmaestro on a journey that began in Stockholm in 2005. Throughout their career, Hoffmaestro have refused to choose between partying and serious matters, instead building their own culture around the music, with audiences and fans always close to the band and at the heart of what they do. Through explosive performances at some of Sweden's and Europe's biggest festivals, they have established themselves as one of the country's most acclaimed live acts. This autumn and spring, Hoffmaestro will take their new music on the road with an extensive Swedish tour, opening on 14 November in Örebro.
– After all these years on the road, we still know nothing better than the feeling of stepping onto a stage and meeting the audience. It's going to be so much fun bringing the new songs together with the old favourites live, say Hoffmaestro.
For Hoffmaestro, the live stage has always been the focal point. It is where the songs take on new life, where the audience becomes part of the band and where every show grows into something bigger than a concert. This spring brings a club tour, something they have not done in a long time. They continue:
– It's been a long time since we did a whole club tour, so that adds an extra thrill. The audience is closer, the ceiling is low, and when everything gets a little tighter, it creates an energy that's hard to find anywhere else. It suits us really well! The audience can expect exactly what an evening with Hoffmaestro should be: all-out intensity, sweat, singalongs, chaos, joy and a hell of a lot of energy. But also some new sides to the band. The Swedish songs hit home in a different way, and it's going to be incredibly exciting to see what happens to them when they meet a live audience.
Hoffmaestro are still driven by the same curiosity and uncompromising energy as when it all began two decades ago. It is still about the same thing: bringing people together, blurring boundaries and creating moments that are felt as much in the body as in the heart.
