Frankly! – A Tribute to Sinatra

In the concert Frankly! – A Tribute to Sinatra, Bohuslän Big Band pays tribute to one of the greatest artists of all time – Francis Albert “Frank” Sinatra.

Vocals are provided by Niklas Gabrielsson Lind, whose voice is so similar to Frank’s that even the most devoted Sinatra fan sometimes mistakes one for the other. The music is performed in true Sinatra style, with original arrangements by greats such as Nelson Riddle, Quincy Jones, Billy May and Neal Hefti. Beautiful, swinging and timeless!

Frank Sinatra – a musical icon

With his distinctive baritone voice and elegant appearance, Sinatra became a teen idol during the war years. His career grew over the following decades, and his greatest successes as a recording artist came in the 1950s, with many unforgettable hits: I’ve got the world on a string and I get a kick out of you.

During the 1960s, he founded his own record label and reached the absolute peak of his career with the song Strangers in the night, which became a worldwide hit and is now regarded as one of the most powerful recordings ever made. Sinatra also enjoyed a successful parallel career as an actor, which included winning an Oscar for Best Actor in The Man with the Golden Arm. He is regarded as one of the greatest icons of the entire twentieth century.

Bohuslän Big Band

Bohuslän Big Band is a band that both preserves and challenges the big band genre. Over the years, they have performed with international greats such as Gregory Porter, Maria Schneider and Nils Landgren, and much-loved artists such as Jill Johnson, Samuel Ljungblahd and Tommy Körberg. In 2026, the band was also nominated for an American Grammy in the “Best Large Jazz Enseble Album” category for the album Lumen, together with Panamanian pianist Danilo Pérez.

They have also been called “A World Class Jazz Orchestra” by none other than Quincy Jones. This is not the first time Bohuslän Big Band has taken on Sinatra’s familiar tunes. To mark what would have been Sinatra’s 100th birthday, Bohuslän Big Band, vocalist Erik Gullbransson and the strings of Wermlands Operan paid tribute to him with an album. The album was a continuation of the production Frankly, which you now have the chance to experience again – this time with Niklas Gabrielsson Lind at the microphone.

Niklas Gabrielsson Lind

Singer, musician and composer Niklas Gabrielsson Lind moves freely between most genres. His greatest passion lies in the American jazz vocal tradition, with Frank Sinatra as his most natural source of inspiration.

Niklas has been seen and heard singing and playing his own songs in the hit TV series Vår tid är nu and has appeared on På Spåret. He has made guest appearances with Radiosymfonikerna, Göteborgs Symfoniker, Kungliga Filharmonikerna and Ekdahl Bagge Big Band, among others. He also has over 20 million views on YouTube with the jazz project Platina Jazz.
