SUMMARY:Wicked
LOCATION:GöteborgsOperan\, Christina Nilssons gata\, 41104 Göteborg
DESCRIPTION:A musical in two acts with music and lyrics by Stephen Schwar
tz. Book by Winnie Holzman. Based on the novel by Gregory Maguire. Direct
ed by Samuel Harjanne. Swedish translation by Calle Norlén.\n\nThe green
musical Wicked tells the story of what happened in the land of Oz before
Dorothy arrived (in the classic film Trollkarlen från Oz)\, from the tw
o witches’ perspectives. It tells how the unlikely friends Elphaba and
Galinda found each other\, became the wicked and the good witch respectiv
ely\, and managed to overcome the evil wizard’s tyranny. It is a story
of exclusion\, courage and love\, told through magic\, imagination and fa
ntastic music. Several of the songs\, including “Defying gravity”\, h
ave become major hits.\n\nNow musical theatre stars Feline Andersson and
Anna Salonen return to their breakthrough roles as Elphaba\, “the wicke
d witch of the west”\, and Galinda\, who becomes the good Glinda\, resp
ectively.\n\nWicked is one of the world’s most popular musicals. The or
iginal production had its world premiere on Broadway in 2003 and its West
End premiere three years later. The Swedish premiere at GöteborgsOperan
in 2023\, directed by Samuel Harjanne\, was (and remains) the largest-ev
er production of the musical\, with an expanded orchestra\, a large cast
and breathtaking staging.\n\nThe ticket price includes return coach trave
l\, a prawn sandwich and Ramlösa before the performance\, and coffee and
home-baked treats during the interval. Other drinks can be ordered and p
 urchased on site.\n\nTick…
