SUMMARY:Jasper Høiby's 3Elements
LOCATION:Nefertiti\, Hvitfeldtsplatsen 6\, 41120 Göteborg
DESCRIPTION:Jasper Høiby's 3Elements\n\nFeaturing Xavi Torres and Marc M
ichel\n\nJasper Høiby's 3Elements is a piano trio project led by one of
contemporary jazz's most respected bassists and composers. Høiby is perh
aps best known as a co-founder of the influential Phronesis – the group
that\, from 2005 onwards\, redefined expectations of the modern piano tr
io.\n\nHis latest release is Conversations of Hope\, the trio's third alb
um\, released on Edition Records. With Marc Michel on drums and Xavi Torr
es on piano\, the music moves fast and hits hard – shaped by clear melo
dic ideas\, shifting time signatures and a keen sense of space and dynami
cs. Marc Michel's precise\, driving playing and Torres's harmonically foc
used piano language dovetail closely with Høiby's bass-led compositions.
The result is music that feels urgent\, physical and constantly alert to
the next change of direction.\n\n"The brilliant bass player\, Jasper Hø
iby\, outstanding music" — Gilles Peterson\n\n"Høiby fashions his piec
es so the lines between freedom and form are beautifully blurred."\n\n—
