SUMMARY:corto.alto
LOCATION:Nefertiti\, Hvitfeldtsplatsen 6\, 41120 Göteborg
DESCRIPTION:Scottish composer\, producer and multi-instrumentalist Liam S
hortall\, aka corto.alto\, has enjoyed an exceptional breakthrough in rec
ent years. His debut album Bad With Names was nominated for the Mercury P
rize 2024 and won Best Album at the Scottish Jazz Awards. In 2025\, he fo
llowed this up with Act Of The Year at the Jazz FM Awards (a public vote\
, competing against Ezra Collective and Nubya Garcia) and UK Independent
Breakthrough at the AIM Awards.\n\nNow signed to Ninja Tune\, corto.alto
has released the singles DON’T LISTEN\, VANDAL and APRIL feat. anaiis
 – music that clearly demonstrates his ability to cross genres seamlessl
 y. The tracks have received extensive radio airplay worldwide (over 3000
plays in less than six weeks) and been added to the BBC 6 Music A-Playlis
t\, while DON’T LISTEN was also included on the FC26 soundtrack.\n\nHis
sound is rooted in Glasgow’s contemporary scene but moves freely betwe
en club culture\, electronic music\, hip-hop\, soul and funk. This is mus
ic on its own terms – uncompromising yet direct.\n\nOver the past 24 mo
nths\, corto.alto and the band have played over 150 concerts\, including
appearances at Glastonbury (West Holts Stage) and We Out Here (closing th
e main stage)\, as well as headline performances at festivals such as Lat
itude\, North Sea Jazz\, Montreux and Cross The Tracks. A sold-out UK tou
r culminated in a performance for 2000 people at Glasgow’s iconic Barro
wland Ballroom.\n\nHe has strong support from names such as Gilles Peters
 on\, Jamie Cullum…
