  Kammarkören presents Daniel Fjellström's opera "Det går an"\, based o
 n Carl Jonas Love Almqvist's celebrated novel from 1839. An opera in conc
 ert format\, with choir\, piano trio and vocal soloists at its heart\, an
 d direction\, movement and lighting helping to tell the story. All singin
 g is in Swedish.\n\nWe meet Sara\, an independent woman who runs her fami
 ly's glazing business\, and Albert\, a non-commissioned officer who court
 s her. Sara is in Stockholm to buy diamonds for cutting glass\, and on he
 r journey home by steamboat along the Göta Canal\, they meet and continu
 e travelling together – from Stockholm towards Lidköping. Their relati
 onship develops on board and along the canal\, and we follow them on a jo
 urney where love\, expectations and life choices are put to the test.\n\n
 When Jonas Love Almqvist wrote the novel "Det går an" in 1839\, it attra
 cted considerable attention. Here was a male author who allowed a woman t
 o assert her right to love without having to give up her independence\, h
 er work and her own life. The issue was controversial\, to say the least\
 , at the time – and still feels relevant today.\n\nDaniel Fjellström's
  music gives the story rhythmic energy\, melodic charm and warmth\, while
