Kampen om räkmackan

Räkmackans dag, Wednesday 14 October 2026, at 19:00 We pit three Swedish beers against three different sparkling wines in an exciting contest.

Porter educator Otto Lundell gives a brief introduction to the beers being tasted. Then we do the same with the bubbly. Otto has visited Champagne many times and knows his sparkling wines too.

We then serve PorterPelle's famous prawn sandwich and try it with the six different drinks. Which pairing works best?

Once the winner has been crowned, Otto gives a richly illustrated talk on the history of the prawn sandwich. Using old newspaper clippings and other sources, he shares new findings with us.

Porter educator, beer judge, beer and drinks historian, Lord Vice President of the Porter Drinkers Association, Otto Lundell has been organising beer and porter tastings since the mid-1990s. Otto knows a great deal about beer and drinks culture and its history, especially in Sweden.
