Inåt Bakåt & Monument proudly present SPK + Alvar & Beat Novet on 12/11! In a sudden and unexpected turn, Inåt Bakåt kicks off the winter/spring 26/27 club season together with Monument and an opening trio out of the ordinary.

The odd DJ, just three bands and not a single label release may puzzle some, but I hope you understand that this evening is as much a certainty as the fact that it’s a Thursday on Ringön. Just get stuck in – a chance like this won’t come again!

Since Australian industrial pioneers SPK were formed by Graeme Revell in 1978, the band has taken on several guises. Besides inspiring experimental electronic bands such as Test Dept, Skinny Puppy and Ministry to spring up like mushrooms, their aggressive soundscapes and macabre aesthetic helped shape the EBM scene and influence more conventional synthpop. After hammering deep grooves into alternative music history during those crucial years, the band finally disbanded in 1988. By this point, SPK had gone through as many oil drums as members, and musically they were now leaning more towards commercial dance music than extreme, conceptual sound art.

After spending almost an entire working life composing film scores in Hollywood, Revell finally brought his old SPK back to life with a live performance in Italy on 12 July 2025. In this new phase, Graeme is joined by his son Robert, and together they return to a political, philosophical and obscure foundation, drawing on both old songs and entirely new works. This is not nostalgia, however, but the next chapter in one of industrial music’s most influential and uncompromising artistic journeys. You could write hefty books about SPK’s influence, significance and worth, but for once it may be enough to spell out that otherwise overused word: Legends.
