SUMMARY:Azizzi Romeo
LOCATION:Nefertiti\, Hvitfeldtsplatsen 6\, 41120 Göteborg
DESCRIPTION:Heavy bass\, vibrant roots and a voice that carries both a le
gacy and a future of its own. On 9 October\, we welcome Azizzi Romeo to N
efertiti – with none other than Walshy Fire from Major Lazer as executi
ve producer behind the project and some of our absolute favourite musicia
ns in the band.\n\nAzizzi grew up in Linstead\, Jamaica\, with roots regg
ae as his mother tongue and the legendary Max Romeo (Chase The Devil!) as
his father. By the age of eight\, he was already at the microphone along
side his brother. After touring internationally with his father\, he has
found his own sound\, where classic\, conscious roots meets electronic in
fluences and personal reflections.\n\nOn “Signs Of The Time”\, togeth
er with Guiding Star Orchestra\, that sound becomes a powerful plea for p
eace and unity in a world on fire. The spirit of 1970s roots is ever-pres
ent\, but the music looks forward. Max Romeo can also be heard here on on
e of his final recordings – a deeply moving meeting of generations\, un
ited in their belief in music’s ability to stand against the darkness.\
n\nAnd for us at Nefertiti\, there is another reason to look forward to i
 t. The band features Denmark’s Bremer/McCoy\, who\, together with Steve
n Jess Borth II\, are also part of The Mighty Tiny & The Many Few and I A
m An Instrument. These are two acts particularly close to our hearts\, wh
ose records are often spinning in our Jazz Kissabar before jazz concerts.
Those of you who tend to arrive early have very likely already fallen in
  love with the…
