FINNEGAN'S HELL RELEASEFEST + THE RIPTIDE RATS @ FYRENS ÖLKAFÉ Attendance at Fyrens Ölkafé on 30 October is compulsory when Finnegan’s Hell host a release party for their new album Glorious Mess.

As ever, they promise a raucous folk-punk gig with melodies on accordion, flute and bouzouki. Also playing this evening are The Riptide Rats, who deliver high-octane instrumental surf rock where action-surf meets western, rock’n’roll and raw garage rock.

Finnegan's Hell formed in 2010 and have since toured extensively at festivals and clubs across Europe. Their high-intensity, interactive performances have earned them a reputation as a hugely entertaining live band. The main musical ingredients are punk and Irish folk, but there are plenty of other styles in the mix too. Their new record Glorious Mess will be their fifth and was recorded, mixed and mastered by Antti Vuorenniemi Palaez at Union Station in Malmö.

The Riptide Rats from Kungsbacka play high-octane instrumental surf rock where action-surf meets western, rock’n’roll and raw garage rock. With a guitar-driven sound full of twang, distortion and cinematic melodies, the band create their own soundtrack to towering waves, dusty deserts and late-night car chases.

The band features members with backgrounds in acts including Lunatones and The Chuck Norris Experiment, combining classic 60s surf with the weight and energy of modern Scandinavian rock’n’roll.

Their debut EP, The Eastwood EP, was released on 31 October 2023 by Spanish record label Ghost Highway Recordings. The limited-edition 7-inch vinyl was pressed in a run of 300 copies – 150 on orange vinyl and 150 on classic black vinyl.

The track “The Riptide Rats Theme” also appears on the compilation Short & Swede, which brought together 14 Swedish bands on a limited-edition vinyl release from Ghost Highway Recordings.

In 2024, the band presented their Shed Sessions, a series of recordings that culminated in the release of “Reef Rumblin’” on an exclusive 5-inch vinyl in collaboration with Under The Sun Fanzine. The following year, The Riptide Rats appeared on another limited-edition 5-inch split release alongside legendary Swedish surf band Langhorns, released in collaboration with Colorado Instrumental Fanzine.

On 22 November 2025, the band's debut album Waves Of Steel was released by Ghost Highway Recordings and Green Cookie Records. The album brings together The Riptide Rats' explosive blend of surf, western and rock’n’roll – instrumental music with one foot on a Californian beach in 1963 and the other firmly planted on a distortion pedal.

In late 2026, Waves Of Steel will also receive a limited-edition American vinyl release through US-based record label Another Wave Records.
