En hyllning till Björn Afzelius – 80 år
Björn Afzelius would have turned 80 in spring 2027. To mark the occasion, a major tour brings together some of those who were close to Björn and his music to pay tribute to one of Sweden’s best-loved and most significant artists.
It will be an evening filled with Björn’s greatest songs, powerful stories and music that moves and unites people, perhaps more today than ever.
Through the classics and the personal stories behind the music, the audience will get to know Björn Afzelius’s rich catalogue of songs up close.
The songs are performed by acclaimed musicians, friends and colleagues who bring their experience, love and respect for his legacy.
On stage, bandleader Bernt Andersson is joined by Göran “Guran” Blomgren, Stefan Sundberg and Mikael Krönlein. “Guran” and Bernt themselves toured with Björn back in the day.
Bernt, Stefan and Michael were members of Varitéorkestern, performing more than 1,200 times alongside and backing Carl-Einar Häckner.
Here you will hear the great songs, but also discover the stories from behind the scenes – memories, moments and stories that have rarely, if ever, been told before.
This is not just a concert.
It is a journey through a life’s work and a tribute to an artist who gave voice to love, anger, solidarity and the longing for freedom. - Getting to play Björn’s songs again feels like opening the door to something that is still alive.
His music has not grown older; it has only become even more important.
Göran “Guran” Blomgren - Björn had a rare ability to touch people deeply.
Paying tribute to him alongside musicians who were actually there, and with an audience who still carry his songs with them, feels both momentous and deeply personal.
