GERD follows up her new album with her first Swedish tour in two and a half years
On 25 September, GERD releases the album “More Water Than Anything”, and it has now been confirmed that she will also embark on a tour starting on 16 October at Pustervik in Gothenburg.
On the P3 Guld winner’s new record, electronic, organic and orchestral elements interact without being forced into a set mould. The result sounds bigger and more uncompromising than anything she has done before.
With “More Water Than Anything”, the music’s drive and forward momentum embody how creative energy can overcome doubt.
“It’s the most personal thing I’ve done,” GERD says of the record. “I haven’t really dared to open that door before, and of course it’s scary, but it’s also fun. It has also given the lyrics a different depth.”
Surrounded by forest, water and long nights on a secluded island in Värmland, she began developing songs through experimentation while a fascination with folklore and supernatural beings took shape. Gradually, her surroundings – the forest, the silence, the sense of something moving at the edges – left their mark on her inner world, colouring both expression and content.
Despite major successes in recent years, including international attention, acclaim for her debut single “Lies for a Liar”, a P3 Guld win in the Artist of the Future category and high-profile live performances, GERD went through a period when creativity no longer felt like a given. While working on the new record, it became important to find her way back to a more intuitive way of creating.
The experience of performing in front of an audience has also shaped how the songs have developed.
“I love playing live, getting to share that energy with others. I wanted to write songs where you can dance it all out, let go and just be in the moment.”
