T DAYS TO SWEDEN THIS AUTUMN\n\nPussy Riot comes to Sweden this autumn wi
th Riot Days\, an intense multimedia performance based on Pussy Riot memb
er Maria Alyokhina’s autobiographical book of the same name.\n\nRiot Da
ys moves between live music\, spoken word\, video and performance art\, t
elling the story of Pussy Riot’s political activism\, resistance and th
e consequences of the group’s high-profile protest at the Cathedral of
Christ the Saviour in Moscow in 2012. Following the protest\, Alyokhina w
as arrested and sentenced to two years in prison\, an experience that bec
ame the starting point for both her book and the performance.\n\nIn its n
ew version\, Riot Days brings the story into the present day. The perform
ance addresses the oppression of and violence against LGBTQ+ people in Ru
ssia\, the story of opposition politician Alexei Navalny and Putin’s fu
ll-scale invasion of Ukraine.\n\nThrough music\, documentary material and
Alyokhina’s own account\, Riot Days becomes both a testimony and an un
compromising portrayal of political resistance in today’s Russia.
