Tjolöholms Slott

Let Tjolöholms Slott enchant you!

At the turn of the twentieth century, construction began on what would become one of Sweden’s most unusual castles. Here, sixteenth-century English style was combined with Art Nouveau and the modern conveniences of the day. The Tjolöholm estate was also built as a community, with Allmogeby, a village comprising workers’ cottages, a communal hall and Slottskyrka, the castle church – something entirely unique in Sweden. Today, the castle is open to the public. Let yourself be enchanted by the luxury of the turn of the century! Tjolöholms Slott stands on a peninsula, surrounded by architect-designed castle gardens. Visitors can stroll along paths among majestic oaks and meadows, settle down for a picnic by the water or take a dip in the sea. The grounds also feature the museum cottage Hemtrefnaden, which tells the story of life on the estate in the early twentieth century, the play ship Montrose, which invites children to play, and a farm where animals are bred.
